Frequently asked questions

How is net salary estimated?

Monthly gross pay is annualised with taxable variable pay. Eligible employee social insurance and the annual personal allowance are deducted before the applicable Article 8 tax table is applied.

Is Egyptian payroll tax monthly or annual?

The tax is based on annualised income. Employers withhold it during the year and can make payroll settlements, so an individual month may differ from this average.

What should I enter for social insurance?

Use the employee contribution shown on your payslip whenever possible. Otherwise the calculator can estimate the common 11% employee amount from the registered insurable wage.

What are the 2026 insurable-wage limits?

NOSI published a monthly minimum of EGP 2,700 and maximum of EGP 16,700 from 1 January 2026. These are subscription-wage limits, not necessarily total cash salary.

Why can the result differ from my payslip?

Variable pay, taxable benefits, special exemptions, unpaid days, arrears, rounding and annual payroll settlements can change the final amount.

Does this include the employer contribution?

No. Employer social-insurance contributions are not deducted from employee take-home pay.
